1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, accessing or using SyntaxQuest ("the App"), operated by Altech Dev, you accept these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. If you use the App on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on their behalf.
2. Service description
SyntaxQuest is an educational mobile app that teaches programming, cloud, DevOps, security and related technical skills through lessons, exercises, challenges, community features, rewards, coding practice and AI-assisted tutoring. The App may include free features, paid subscriptions, consumable purchases, ads and experimental features. We also offer an informational website at syntaxquest.
3. Eligibility and accounts
3.1 Eligibility
You must be legally able to accept these Terms. If you are a minor, you may use the App only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The App is not directed to children under 13.
3.2 Guest use and accounts
You can use certain features as a guest or create an account. Guest progress is stored locally and may be lost if the App is deleted, the device is reset or local data is cleared. Account features may require internet access and authentication through Apple, Google or another supported provider.
3.3 Account responsibility
You are responsible for your credentials, device security and activity under your account. Let us know if you suspect unauthorized access. We may refuse, reclaim or modify usernames that are offensive, misleading, infringing, impersonate others or are otherwise inappropriate.
4. Subscriptions, purchases and virtual items
4.1 Premium features
Premium and Pro Max subscriptions may unlock additional lessons, an ad-free experience, tutor usage, guided learning, rewards or other features described in the App at the time of purchase. Features may vary by country, platform, product tier, app version and technical availability.
4.2 Auto-renewing subscriptions
Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store. They renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions from your Apple account settings.
4.3 Trials, promotions and price changes
Free trials (including our 7-day trial), introductory offers, coupons or promotions may be available only to eligible users and may be limited by Apple or by us. Each Apple ID can use the free trial only once per subscription group. Prices, taxes and currencies may vary by country. Apple will handle notices and consents required for price increases where applicable.
4.4 Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled through reportaproblem.apple.com under Apple's policies and procedures. We do not guarantee refunds, credits or partial-period refunds unless required by applicable law or granted by Apple.
4.5 Gems, rewards and cosmetics
Gems, streak freezes, cosmetics, badges and other virtual items are limited, revocable and non-transferable licenses for learning and entertainment mechanics inside the App. They have no cash value, are not property, cannot be sold or traded outside the App and may be modified, rebalanced, removed or discontinued. Consumable purchases are final except where law or App Store policies require otherwise.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for illegal, harmful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, harassing or infringing activities
- Cheat, manipulate leaderboards, automate gameplay, exploit bugs or interfere with fair use of the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, scrape, crawl, copy or circumvent technical protections except where expressly permitted by law
- Interfere with servers, usage limits, security systems, ads, purchases, subscriptions or entitlement checks
- Upload or send malware, secrets you are not authorized to share, private keys, harmful code or content that violates third-party rights
- Abuse the AI tutor, community features, support channels or reporting tools
- Impersonate others, claim false affiliations or use misleading usernames
- Use the App to generate or facilitate attacks, unauthorized access, credential theft or real-world harm
- Share your account with third parties or use it to resell access to content
6. Educational content and AI tutor
The App provides educational content and automated assistance for learning purposes. Lessons, exercises, hints, generated explanations, code feedback and AI tutor responses may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. You are responsible for reviewing, testing and validating code or technical decisions before using them in real environments.
7. User content and community features
You retain ownership of the content you submit, such as comments, code snippets, usernames, reports and feedback. You grant SyntaxQuest a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, moderate, adapt and use that content as needed to operate, improve, promote and protect the App. You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit your content. We may remove, restrict or report content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
SyntaxQuest, including software, lessons, exercises, designs, graphics, logos (including the Pulpo Coder mascot), curriculum, game mechanics, text, sounds and other materials, belongs to Altech Dev or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license to use the App, no rights are transferred to you. You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, sublicense or create derivative works from the App's content without permission.
9. Availability and changes
We may update, modify, suspend, limit or discontinue any feature, course, reward, subscription benefit, AI model, advertising experience or community feature at any time. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or available in every country. Some features require internet access, Apple services, Google services or third-party provider availability.
10. Moderation, suspension and termination
We may warn, restrict, suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, abused the App, infringed rights, raised security concerns or used the App in a way harmful to other users or the service. You may stop using the App or request account deletion at any time. Termination does not automatically entitle you to refunds unless required by applicable law or App Store policies.
11. Third-party services
The App integrates with services such as Apple, Google, Firebase, AdMob, StoreKit, Judge0 CE and AI providers (DeepSeek, OpenAI). Your use of those services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, policies, pricing, data practices or content.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold Altech Dev harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your misuse of the App, your content, your violation of these Terms or your violation of law or third-party rights.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Peru, where Altech Dev is established, without regard to conflict of law rules, unless the consumer protection laws of your country require otherwise. The courts of Lima, Peru will have exclusive authority over disputes, except where applicable law grants you mandatory rights to bring claims elsewhere (for example, consumers in the European Union may bring claims before the courts of their country of residence).
Before starting formal legal action, we will try to resolve disputes in good faith by contacting each other directly.
16. Changes to the terms
We may modify these Terms. If changes are material, we will notify you through the App, the App Store listing, the website or another reasonable method at least 30 days in advance where practicable. Continued use of the App after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. General provisions
If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, restructuring or asset transfer. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and Apple's EULA form the applicable agreement between you and Altech Dev for use of the App.
18. EULA, App Store and Apple
Use of the App is also subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula, unless we apply a custom EULA. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to the App distributed through the App Store, and may enforce them against you as such. Apple is not responsible for the App or for related claims.
